Sporting Nebraska FC is extremely excited to announce FC Lincoln will be joining the club for the 2023-2024 soccer year! FC Lincoln is a female focused program that has a 15 year track record of developing young women into successful soccer players. The partnership makes for a robust development environment for both girls and boys in Lincoln. This partnership represents a PART of the long term goals for Sporting Nebraska FC's Lincoln based players and families. We are happy to welcome the FC Lincoln players and families to the Sporting family. Stay tuned as we continue to push the soccer environment forward in Lincoln and Omaha! #WeAreOne
FC Lincoln Director Jim Bovaird had this to say about the partnership:
“FC Lincoln is excited for this next chapter in our organization’s fifteen year history! As the longest-running female-oriented soccer program in Lincoln, we have focused on providing a positive and professional developmental soccer environment that focuses on young ladies and their families first. Now as a part of Sporting Nebraska FC, we are thrilled to continue developing the next generations of Lincoln area youth as talented soccer players and as exceptional women! The opportunities provided by Sporting Nebraska FC to the Lincoln soccer community are immense, and the clear alignment in goals and philosophy between FC Lincoln and Sporting Nebraska FC will provide an even more fun, focused, and competitive soccer environment for the community.”
Sporting Nebraska FC Lincoln Operations Manager Ed Meitzen echoed those statements:
"This is an incredibly exciting time for Soccer in Lincoln. Sporting Nebraska FC now has teams available for both girls and boys teams at all age levels in Lincoln. This is a natural transition as the soccer ideals of both groups to create a positive, competitive learning environment for our players is the same on both sides. The focus on player first development is apparent with FC Lincoln and Sporting Nebraska FC. FC Lincoln brings a professional, intelligent, experienced coaching staff to the girls program in Lincoln. It is very exciting for me personally getting to work with the coaching staff to align our game model and development objectives. The group has a very talented player pool and I look forward to working with them on best promoting those players to varied development environments with multiple league and training opportunities; and if they so choose to continue their soccer careers at the next level."
